Mourning by Gordana Mudri

Who will stop this madness?

While hatred hits into the walls and fear crawls through the streets, bloody rain waters the earth. Through the shadows of deserted streets, quick steps perishing. The laughter dies in the arms of the fallen lovers. And no one gives a hand, fearing of a snake bite. Eyes staring into the darkness, and every shadow is a murderer, every voice is a curse. And there are no more brothers or friends. We are damned sleepers in the eyes of sleepers, stamped by mistrust.

gord01_400_06Who will stop this madness?

While nightingales die alone, kissing thorns in estranged gardens, singing their last songs of love. A last flap of wings and sacrifice in vain, rose and crushed in the mud. A shiver of a dying heart and the last beat of hope in the deserts, forests and plains, on the peaks of snowy mountains, in misty valleys poisoned with the deaf.

Who will stop this madness?

While we’re running into our caves, closing the doors with a stone of distrust, turning back to the orphans. Lonely creatures chained with fear, sheltered from the sun, choosing dark.

Who will stop this madness?

While we feed the beast of our weaknesses, the beast of destruction rises in the glory.

Who will stop this madness?

When disappears the last…

We Protected them from the horrors NOT the hate by Thanos Kalamidas

For the next few days there are going to be tens of articles and analysis for the causes of one more horrific hate shooting. The number 49 is beyond devastating. But what never stops horrifying me is the youth of the shooters. This time in his twenties …again.

Twenties supposed to be still the period of romanticism in human life and not of hate. Still, 49 dead verify the opposite. 49 humans that defer with the killer in their religion and place of birth murdered in their place of worship. In the name of …what? Christianity?

nz001_400But returning to the young of the shooters’ age there is a truth we must face. Most of us who have born before the end of sixties, having lived the horror of the WWII directly or indirectly through our parents’ eyes, tried hard to protect our kids from the repulsion of genocides, cannibalism, fascism and Nazism separating the horror from the fear and isolating the events geographically. In this naïve mission we all found the support of the states. The brightest example the fact that for a lot of nations (Hungary and Poland among others) the holocaust is something between the Germans and Jews and not a global crime that weights on all of us.

We pulled our conscious away from our sins creating a tempting and full mysticism forbidden apple instead of a truly rotten, parasitic and poisonous crop. And the youth went for it instead after it.

There are two generation plus a third entering about now, who believe that the Holocaust was something isolating that happened in a specific place lost in history like …the Atlantis. Poland wants to erase from history any connection with the concentration camps even though the most famous one was in Poland guarded by Germans and among others: Polish collaborators. The same Polish who participated in one of the worst anti-Semitic hunts in history in the Warsaw Ghetto.

Younger generations don’t learn anymore human history. They don’t learn the dark side of humanity. They learn isolated generalizations and selected events that raise their “patriotic” spirit. If you are not in Israel, the holocaust might not even be part of your education and the Nazis are like …emo with black shining uniforms and a mania for parades and not the serial killers they really were.

That old skeptism

This is the Europe I don’t want to be part of. This is not about Greece, Finland or UK; this is about me. I don’t want to be part of this Europe and I don’t care how this will influence the London stock market tomorrow or the French exchange market next week.
But for that now I have to face a new situation that serves the bankers, the EU bureaucracy and establishment and of course the radicals. Even though I am the one who doubts and requires a well-supported by evidence opposition that could persuade me that I’m wrong and what I see is the continuity of the EU fundamentals, I cannot be a sceptic. Because the word sceptic is used the last decade and more, to semantically veil all the ones who oppose the existence of the Union due to their nationalistic, chauvinistic, fascist, Nazi, racist, isolator, xenophobic and other similar ideologies.

Poland remembers ghetto uprising

Poland is holding events to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Warsaw ghetto uprising. Polish President Lech Kaczynski with 100 guests gathered at a large square on the site of the ghetto, where thousands of Jews died.

Beside the monument to the ghetto fighters, Mr. Kaczynski said the world must remain vigilant to ensure such horrors were not repeated. The uprising was the largest act of Jewish resistance in the Holocaust. For nearly a month in 1943, several hundred Jews, armed with pistols and home-made bombs, resisted German attempts to eradicate the ghetto.

People should remember and remind to the newest generations, but apart from that people of Poland should especially some …twin politicians should remember the catastrophes discriminations bring.
