US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is in the Middle East for the latest American attempt to advance an Israeli–Palestinian peace deal.
Shortly after arriving in Jerusalem on Saturday evening, she had talks over dinner with Israeli PM Ehud Olmert. She is due to meet Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak and Palestinian PM Salam Fayyad on Sunday.
She will then go on to the West Bank town of Ramallah to see Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Speaking on the aircraft on her way to the region from London, Ms Rice said that everyone wanted to see things move more quickly, and that was why she kept going back to the Middle East.
She’s taking the circus around and around like she doesn’t want to admit that time is up! Over! It has finished for her and her Washington gang! Then again perhaps she’s building up for …five years after!
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has assured Georgia that the US is firmly committed to supporting the country’s sovereignty.
Georgia says Russian moves to forge closer ties with two of its breakaway regions threaten its sovereignty. The row between the two neighbors will be discussed at a closed-door session of the UN Security Council.
After meeting Georgia’s foreign minister, Ms Rice said the US was “very concerned” by Russia’s actions. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision last week to order closer links between Russia and Georgia’s two breakaway regions – Abkhazia and South Ossetia – prompted outrage in Tbilisi.
This US administration never learns, support another dictatorship for just one reason, to be against Russia which apparently is not the enemy anymore!!! Amazing but with Saddam they did exactly the same!!!
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has arrived in Baghdad on a surprise visit to Iraq.
She said she hoped to see further reconciliation of the various sectarian groups in Iraq. Ms Rice arrived in the city a day after Shia cleric Moqtada Sadr threatened to wage “open war” on Iraq’s government.
He urged them to halt operations against his supporters. On Saturday, Iraqi and US troops clashed with his forces in Baghdad and the south.
A cleric declares open war and Condoleezza Rice is going for a surprise visit to verify?
